Update on “Jupiter Meets Uranus” : May 2010

Excitement/apprehension is growing. The powerful, unique planetary energy field building up with the 8 June 2010 Jupiter Uranus conjunction at 0 Aries at its core, is nearing. Another fine review of  the book I wrote about the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in general, and the 1997 one in particular, has just come out:

“As the somewhat-scary Jupiter-Uranus conjunction prepares to burn its way across the sky — scary in part because it’s involved in a huge cardinal T-cross (and occasional grand cross) involving Pluto and Saturn, and bringing in Moon, Venus, and Mars by August 2010) — it would probably be a good thing to attend to what this might mean. The place to go to do that would be this uniquely-researched book which is not only the sole book I know of devoted only to this subject, but the result of a dedicated research project intended to dig out the most of of what it might mean, especially personally..….However you look at it, this is a most timely book to have right now.”

And from The Mountain Astrologer Magazine, April/May 2010,

Review of “Jupiter Meets Uranus: From Erotic Bathing to Star gazing” by Anne Whitaker, American Federation of Astrologers, 6535 Rural Road, Tempe, AZ 85283, 2009. Soft-cover–166pp–$23.95(ISBN 978-0-86690-574-9
by Mary Plumb

“An early version of “Jupiter Meets Uranus”, Anne Whitaker’s first book, originally appeared as a series of articles in Considerations magazine in 1999-2000, soon after the last conjunction of the two planets in 1997. The author has continued her research on the 14-year cycle, which is especially relevant now as Jupiter and Uranus conjoin at 0 deg Aries in June 2010.

Charles Harvey was an important mentor of hers, and she refers to his work with historical cycles. She includes examples from 1500 to 2000 CE, because  ‘the Jupiter-Uranus planetary duo has been very much present at peak points in the never-ending process of human development and discovery.’

Although the author writes about the myths associated with the planets(e.g she appreciates Richard Tarnas’s association of Prometheus with Uranus), Whitaker’s book is primarily a record of her research into the cycles of the two planets, with special attention to their most recent conjunction in 1997. She has documented the events of the times, both on the collective level ( remember Dolly the cloned sheep?) and as personal stories and ongoing follow-up in the lives of her 17 research subjects. There are mundane charts for the conjunctions and other key events from 1609-1997 and ample discussion of what happened to her subjects. In showing the “bright face” as well as the “dark face” of the planets’ combination, Whitaker offers a timely record of an important planetary cycle in action”.
