Jupiter/Uranus has an E.T. moment….the highlight of 2010/11?
September 29, 2010
Recently, NASA announced that its Kepler probe had found more than 700 suspected new planets, including up to 140 of similar size to planet Earth. This was from a trawl of, wait for it, only 150,000 stars: a mere fraction of the estimated 100 billion which lie in our home galaxy, the Milky Way. When aliens arrive on Earth, an increasingly likely prospect if many eminent people in the know including Stephen Hawking are to be believed, they clearly have the right to an official Earthling for greeting purposes.
The Pope? President Obama? The leader of the European Union? The President of Russia or China? Richard Dawkins?
No, none of the above. And definitely not a task to be entrusted to a man. I heard the great news on the radio last Friday morning, one week after Jupiter Meets Uranus Part 2 occurred on 19.9.10. Our future relationship with planet Zog has just taken a step forward! Yes, the United Nations is to appoint
to be the official Greeter for the Purple People
when they first set foot on our illustrious planet.
purple_alien_sticker-p217350771820420226qjcl_400.jpg
It took my husband some time to convince me that I had not overstayed my time in the Land of Nod the night before that radio bulletin. I did not quite believe this story until I saw it in black and white in the Sunday newspapers.
It has got to be my personal favourite for the Jupiter/Uranus Quirky Scientific Award for the 2010/11 conjunction.
This news has also taken me a little closer to having my greatest wish for the 2010/11 conjunction fulfilled, as expressed in an interview in the summer of 2009 with the American Federation of Astrologers’ Newsletter:
“….AFA: Do you have a special wish for the human community for something uniquely helpful which could emerge from this powerful and disruptive energy field?
AW: Yes. I would love to see science fiction fantasies over many decades become fact with the arrival on Planet Earth of small but fabulously evolved purple people from Planet Zog to teach us how to mend our ways. Now THAT would be unexpected!!….”

Facebook meets Jupiter/Uranus at the 19 September cafe!
September 18, 2010
One week ago, I gave in – and joined Facebook.
Blame my friend and collaborator, psychologist and independent thinker Emily Cutts, currently co-writing “MoreBitsFallOff.com’ with me. It’s all her fault: she belongs to the Facebook generation! But I finally realised that insisting on building up a healthy following for my four-section magazine “Writing from the Twelfth House” as I had done, on word of mouth alone, was just perverse. So Emily pushed me gently – and I jumped in.
At present, my tenth house Mars conjunct Uranus is being squared by the current Jupiter/Uranus conjunction. Can this be having something to do with it? I wonder ingenuously.
I went from being Friendless to having fifty-nine Facebook Friends – all in less than a week. One of the mutual Friends who came up had a fetching moon and stars image instead of a mugshot. I liked it, inviting its owner Kenneth Irving to become a Friend. He accepted – and sent me a message saying he had written a review of “Jupiter Meets Uranus”, my 2009 study of Jupiter/Uranus conjunctions, at the end of last year. I am really pleased with this entirely unexpected review, another to add to the collection of positive responses to my book. Thanks, Kenneth!
So – the left field of Jupiter/Uranus dynamism and unpredictability delivers yet again, as in this very small personal example. After many years as a student, practitioner and teacher of astrology – these days mostly as a writer – I continue to love hearing the great music of the spheres, being played throughout space and time, on the large mundane scale and the tiny personal scale by the planets in their cycles.
Here is the review.
“….Jupiter Meets Uranus is a thoughtful, well-researched book that does a good job of answering the question of
what the combination of Jupiter and Uranus means, and it does it in depth and in detail. Highly recommended….”

Waiting for 19th September: Jupiter meets Uranus: “Tales from the Wild Ride” Part Six
September 17, 2010
We are about to have the second exact conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus, at 29 degrees Pisces, on the 19th of September 2010. What will the energy field surrounding that point add to our already disrupted, fast-changing world – for both individual humans and the wider collective? Keep watching this space!!
In the meantime, I thought it would interest readers following the fortunes of the 12 participants ‘plugged-in” to the 2010/11 Jupiter/Uranus conjunctions, to see an edited selection of their ‘takes’ on events in our collective life during the April-June 2010 period of Phase One of the research.
The final question posed for Questionnaire 1 centred on
‘Our Collective Life’.
Despite my making clear that the 2010/11 research would – unlike the 1997 research I did for “Jupiter Meets Uranus” – largely focus on personal life, the mundane astrologer in me could not resist asking questions about what the 12 participants had perceived the key issues to be during
a) April and May 2010 (the build-up period to the 8 June conjunction)
B) the first two weeks of June 2010.
I made the request pretty low-key, thus : “I realise that some of you may not wish to bother commenting on world affairs, but it would be interesting to get your brief take, if you feel so inclined!”
********************
Six out of twelve rated Period A) as very significant, three as moderately significant, one as not significant at all. Two gave no response.
Six out of twelve rated Period B) as very significant, one as moderately significant, two as mildly significant. Three gave no response.
********************
For Period A), unsurprisingly, two events were mentioned by everyone except the person who thought nothing at all had happened of any significance during April and May 2010.
Subject Louis (60), UK, sums this up briefly and well. He also commented on the UK’s May general election result, a first of its kind since the Second World War:
“ Icelandic volcano, BP’s Deepwater Horizon disaster were main headlines.
(Fiona (61) said about the latter: “ ….Made me feel absolute despair and rage and like the apocalypse was upon us all…”)
UK: Run up to a general election which returned a coalition government which is depressingly right wing with no interest in society or its progress. A very serious issue in prospect for work as this government will most likely cut many worthwhile areas of public expenditure while supporting the rotten schemes of developers and their cronies.
In one sense the dark bubbling oil and the grey ash are similar in many ways to the coalition government. Enveloping, disabling, suffocating….”
From the USA, Alicia (53) identified “….first iPads for sale in the USA, April 3rd. Bound to revolutionize the laptop industry and the publishing industry (ebooks)….”
From Finland, Kathy(54) offered this comment: “….Several resignations in domestic politics resulting from a bribe scandal in connection of the parliamentary elections that was revealed already in 2009 and is still constantly in news. Also the head of the national TV’s news operation had to go as his wife is one of the people accused of taking bribes. This is big news here as Finland is always in the top 3 of the transparency international list of the least corrupted countries….” She also highlighted an unusual scientific development: “….An interesting piece of news: A plasma brake to combat space debris: http://www.fmi.fi/news/index.html?Id=1271239224.html ….”
For Period B)
From the USA, Alicia (53) had this to say about the general mood in New York where she lives: “….This isn’t an event, but I’m going to say it anyway because the effect was very pronounced. Everyone around here was a nervous wreck. (More than usual.) Irritable and touchy, rude, angry. Driving safely was impossible. It seemed to get back to ‘normal’ craziness levels by the third week of June….”
Julia (37), USA commented: “…. While some of the disasters of April and May were waning, they were being replaced by a steady stream of natural disasters and civil unrest. The period felt uneasy, as if problems that had been developing over time were revealing themselves….”
Diana (38) USA found the following event most significant, having considered that nothing of significance had occurred during the April/May period: “….It was announced around June 1-2 that Al and Tipper Gore were divorcing. To me this sounded like pure Uranian energy (as they had had such a long marriage)….”
Eve (51) USA observed that “….The only thing that dominated the TV was the BP oil spill and what was being done to help the situation.
I also keep an eye on the Congressional meetings taking place with the Postal Regulatory Commission affecting the restructuring of the United States Postal Service. It looks like the 5 day delivery proposal might be headed for the trash bin. Say it isn’t so, that means three more long years of work for me. (no early out)….”
Maria (32) USA’s take: “….The NBA Finals, The World Cup, BP not being able to fix the leak, the Stock Market rollercoaster. I remember reading during this time someone’s opinion that sporting events are used by the powers that be to distract people from what’s really going on in the world. I found it very interesting that the global
economic/money crisis kinda flew under the radar during The World Cup….”
Giorgio (28), currently in Iceland: “….In general, a collective mood of tension and instability. Diplomatic conflicts, war tensions, environmental worries, economical problems and corruption exposed. A time of big change continues…..”
Having said ‘very much so’ regarding the significance of world events during the April/May period, and like most people highlighting the Gulf Oil Spill, Harry (41), USA was disarmingly honest in his response to questions about Period B: “….I have no doubt a lot was happening in the world around me, but, in all honesty, I can’t think of anything in particular. The Aries Sun in me was myopically focused on a growing opportunity overseas for my partner and I….”
Barbara (81), USA, had a brief, trenchant, all-purpose comment: “….Regarding Our Collective Life, I keep up on all current events, e.g., oil spill, government legislation, stock market ups and downs, but try not to let any of that upset me inasmuch as I have very little control over any of it….”
Whatever your views may be, I feel pretty sure you will agree with me that this piece of detail from Kathy (54) probably deserves the last word! “….The Free Thinkers of Finland organized an exchange event on June 4: they collected from the public Bibles and gave porn magazines in return….”
********************
And my own personal last word on the April – mid-June ( extending to mid-July) 2010 period?
In the article following are my ‘picks’ from the most disruptive, left-field events in our collective life over the last few months, as the drama of a new Jupiter/Uranus conjunction – and beginning 14-year cycle –played out within the structure of the Cardinal Cross.

Relocation, relocation! Giorgio’s “Tales from the Wild Ride” Part 5
September 15, 2010
Initially there were 12 volunteers in this study. But one of them dropped out before sending in her feedback to Questionnaire 1. So I gave her place last month to a man in his late 20s, “Giorgio”, whose chart appears below.
I then thought it would be useful for those of you following the fortunes of our 12 volunteers to have a look at an example of a whole questionnaire, using“Giorgio” ’s clear and succinct feedback to illustrate it. In this way, you can be brought ‘up to speed’ with this subject’s feedback for the April-June 2010 period: ie the build-up to, and the weeks bracketing the first phase of the 2010/11 Jupiter/Uranus conjunctions in Aries and Pisces. Here it is.
Research Study: Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Aries and Pisces 2010/11
Questionnaire 1
“Giorgio”
(In responding to this questionnaire, please type in your replies preferably in black so that I can see them clearly. Please try to be reasonably economical in your responses! And disclose in detail only what feels comfortable to be published later on. eg you could write “health scare two days after the conjunction date. Reassured by test results ten days later when problem declared non-urgent” . This feedback would be useful for the research without giving any identifying details re what the problem was.)
Personal Life
A) April and May 2010 (build-up period):
Did you experience anything significant of an inner/outer nature during this period? (Bear in mind that any planetary energy can strike a ‘dumb note’ with you, but be vividly observable in the life/lives of family or and/or friends and/or significant others)

Your comments on/summary of this time:
Past years felt stuck in my job. So last summer I applied for volunteering abroad. In January 2010 I was selected for a project. On April I “quit” my job (actually told my boss I’d took a half-year off). I traveled on 1st of May – this was a great shift in my life: everything looked so much anew, liberating and exciting. However I am now in a long-distance relationship with my fiancé.
Note: The past years have been pretty experimental since Uranus entered first house in 2000. As Neptune entered first house around 2004, I began feeling a yearning to become closer to nature (and drawn to artistic and spiritual activities). Everything changed in summer 2006 (Pluto transited my natal Sun). I felt stuck on my job, and so I moved abroad and developed new interests. In 2009, both Uranus and Saturn squared my natal Sun. I applied for volunteer abroad and in May 2010 I started my first project on a totally new field and in a wild nature location, finally fulfilling myself.
B) 1-7 June 2010
C) 8 June 2010 (the conjunction day):
D) 9 -15 June
Did you experience anything significant of an inner/outer nature during one/two/all/none of the above periods? (Bear in mind that any planetary energy can strike a ‘dumb note’ with you, but be vividly observable in the life/lives of family or and/or friends and/or significant others)

Your comments on/summary of the first two weeks of June 2010:
For 1 month in this new life chapter. Everything looks so different and exciting. Days of 2, 5-7 and 10-11 June were particularly intense. I’m volunteering in north Iceland and doing adventures in the Arctic Sea. An inner shift occurred: I realized I don’t want to return to the old job I had before.

Your comments on this period:
Lots of big events. Eyjafjallajökull erupted and disrupted airline transportation; oil rig explodes in Gulf of Mexico causing a dramatic environmental disaster, in 14 and 21 April. Also, Greece debt crises, and the diplomatic conflict with Israel, in 31 May.
B) 1-7 June 2010

Your comments on the most striking world/local events during the first two weeks of June 2010:
In general, a collective mood of tension and instability. Diplomatic conflicts, war tensions, environmental worries, economical problems and corruption exposed. A time of big change continues.
(Thanks! Questionnaire 2 will appear at the end of September 2010 and will take you from 0 deg Cancer (Summer Solstice, 22.6.10) to 0 deg Libra (Autumn Equinox, 23.9.10). I will be giving you a couple of ‘special focus’ dates to comment on, eg 26.6.10 when a lunar eclipse occurred at 5 deg Capricorn which is just at the ‘outer limits’ of the orb range for the study but may well have produced some notable effects.)

Bring it on, 19th September! Jupiter/Uranus in Pisces do religion….
September 9, 2010
You don’t have to be a very sage astrologer to work out that one of the likely backdrops to this upcoming 19th September 2010 Jupiter/Uranus conjunction at 29 degrees Pisces (the second of three during 2010/11) is going to be that perennial sustainer, challenger, inspirer, executor and persecutor of the human race – religion.
And sure enough, it is shaping up in bold primary colours already.

By this time I was beginning to feel like Job from the Bible.

(Moon 22 Virgo conj NNode 29 Virgo/9th House)
Very Much So
Your comments/summary on the first two weeks of June 2010:
I finally turned in my resignation form to my job of 10 years. In May, I had moved out of my apartment of 10 years as well, in preparation for a temporary move to Las Vegas. My former apartment manager told me to come pick up my deposit refund check. I was hoping it would be at least $500 but it turned out to be nearly $1350! That unexpected money was going to be a help in paying for my education program tuition of nearly $3000.
On June 12th I was introduced to a very intriguing man. He was very smart and that made him very attractive to me. I left so my friend and I could go to a party. We got separated and I left the party and he was walking by as I exited the building. We began chatting when my friend was escorted out in a headlock and nearly arrested. We took her home and shared a cab ride.
After exchanging numbers he called me and we hung out a week later. He has not contacted me since. I admit, I was pretty much obsessed with him for a good two weeks after, wondering if I did or said something wrong. But I kept reading that the eclipse energy that hit my heavy Capricorn/Cancer chart was removing things from my life that weren’t for me so I finally let it go.

Eve (51)
(Sun 29.5 Pisces/9th House)
Very Much So
1-7 June 2010 Still on vacation till the 6th. I Got a virus on my computer June 1st and I bought my Apple IMac on June 2nd. I had been planning it for a while but the virus was the catalyst that sent me to the Apple store. I spent the remainder of the week getting used to my new operating system.
- June 7th was my first day back to work, very traumatic after a peaceful two weeks off.
8 June 2010 (the conjunction day): Nothing special this day.
9 -15 June 2010 Very hectic at work. June 9th my cousin called and told me that my 84 year old aunt started to hallucinate and has been calling my both cousins ranting crazy stuff. We wanted to take her to the emergency room but she didn’t want to go and wanted to wait for her doctor’s appt. the following Friday. All seemed ok until June 17th when she called me, frantically hallucinating. I called my cousin to stay with her, she wasn’t much better, so we decided to take her to the ER to rule out stroke or brain tumor. The ER released her and said it was mental rather than physical. She spent the weekend at my house until my other cousin from the west coast of Florida came over to stay with her.
Your comments/summary on the first two weeks of June 2010:
I found the first week in June very peaceful and the second week all hell broke loose. Both work and my personal life were in overdrive and I had minimal sleep and was definitely running on empty. I also had a huge blow up at work on the 18th and carried over to the 21st which I will get into on our next installment.

- B) 1-7 June 2010 I noticed a lot of frenzied energy among my circle of friends in my normally sedate women’s poetry group. An awful lot of bad health news among friends and acquaintances, including one shocking death of a Native American doctor who had “gone over to the dark side”.
- C) 8 June 2010 (the conjunction day): I had a totally normal day going to the Bookmobile library where everybody was enormously and unusually social -despite my fears of driving there.
D) 9 -15 June On the 14th, I decided to abandon Septra and revert back to my homeopathic traing and do homeopathic treatment for myself. Lots more bad health news among friends and good news from granddaughter. An extremely signifiant death of a friend on the 16th outside the dates given.

Strong feeling that the enjoyment has disappeared from my work though the interest in the subject if anything is growing stronger. Happy to read and browse the web for inspiration – practicalities of work seem prosaic and mind-numbing.
